An exit poll shows ruling right-wing Law and Justice party is set to win Sunday's parliamentary election in Poland. The poll gave the party over 40 percent of the vote while the opposition Civic Coalition was predicted to receive 24.1 percent. Voter turnout surpassed 60 percent, the highest since the country first held parliamentary elections in 1989. The ruling party took office in 2015. It has been seeking to mobilize poor rural voters with a new child allowance scheme and increasing pensions. But it has often been criticized by opposition parties for undermining the independence of the judiciary and media. Election officials are expected to announce partial results on Monday.
